陳婉瑩教授

陳婉瑩是一位馳聘於中英文媒體、香港、台灣及美國新聞界的資深新聞及教育工作者。除以中英文寫作外，她也是多媒體的能手，從事電視新聞紀錄片及新媒體創作。
投身新聞工作二十五年的陳教授熱衷於新聞教育及研究，在一九九八年七月出任香港大學新聞及傳媒課程高級策劃顧問，創設港大的新聞及傳媒研究中心及新聞碩士課程。二○○○年二月，陳教授受聘為港大新聞學教授，並出任新聞及傳媒研究中心的總監。回港就任上職前，她曾任美國哥倫比亞大學新聞研究院客座教授及紐約市自由論壇傳媒研究中心學者及哥大東亞研究所訪問學者。
陳教授在港大的其他學術職務包括：社會科學院院務委員、資訊科技教學委會委員、港大電子商務研究所客座研究員。她也是嶺南大學文化研究(榮譽) 文學士學位課程顧問、夏威夷東西研究中心的傳媒項目顧問及清華大學國際傳播研究中心顧問。
在美國，一九九零年至一九九七年間，陳教授在行銷七十多萬份的美國第一大地方報紙《紐約每日新聞》（New York Daily News）任資深記者，專門撰寫美國移民政策及移民社區問題的報導，贏得了多項國際及全美新聞大獎。
此前，陳教授在美國華人報紙工作了十三年，歷任多家大報總編輯、採訪主任、專欄作家及記者，負責督導及撰寫有關中美關係、台美關係、八十年代台灣黨外在美活動、美國移民政策的報導及評論。
陳婉瑩生於香港，長於香港，持有香港大學社會學學士學位，香港中文大學社會碩士學位。一九九五年獲選專為嘉獎傑出新聞工作者而設的倪曼學者（Nieman Fellows）到美國哈佛大學進修一年。一九九七年更獲頒國際新聞自由獎。

Chan, an award-winning journalist and Hong Kong native, established The University of Hong Kong's Journalism and Media Studies Centre in 1999. She set up the Master of Journalism programme, launched Hong Kong's first fellowships for working journalists, and forged extensive ties between HKU and the news industry. At HKU, Chan is a Board member of the Social Sciences Faculty; a member of the Academic Council on Information and Technology; and an adjunct research fellow of the E-Business Technology Institute. She also serves as a media advisor at the East-West Center for Cultural Exchange in Hawaii. 
Chan's honours include a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University, a George Polk Award for journalistic excellence and an International Press Freedom Award by the Committee to Protect Journalists. She taught at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and was on the board of the Asian American Journalists Association. Chan has a bachelor degree (social sciences) from HKU and a master degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
