陳坤耀教授1. 廣東省增城縣人,一九四五年香港出生。 2. 香港大學文學士,社會科學碩士,英國牛津大學博士。 3. 現任香港嶺南大學校長。一九七九年至一九九五年八月間任香港大學亞洲研究中心主任、於一九八六年六月獲授講座教授銜。現亦為香港大學亞洲研究中心名譽講座教授及傑出院士,廣州暨南大學客座教授,汕頭大學名譽教授。亦將出任南京大學客座教授。 4. 現兼任香港第一太平公司董事,亞洲衛星有限公司董事,美國Eaton Vance 投資基金信託人,香港政府銀行業諮詢委員會委員,服務業推廣策略小組成員,香港太平洋經濟合作委員會主席,香港報業評議會主席,耆康老人福利會主席。 5. 一九八五至九零年任香港特別行政區基本法諮詢委員會委員,一九八七至九一年任社會福利諮詢委員會委員,一九九一至九五年任証券及期貨事務監察委員會董事。一九九二至九九年任地下鐵路管理局成員。一九九一至九二年度為委任立法局議員,一九九二年十月至一九九七年六月任行政局議員,一九九一年至一九九七年十月任消費者委員會主席。一九九七年至二零零零年任獸醫管理局主席。一九九九至二零零一年任廉正公署審查貪污舉報諮詢委員會委員,二零零零至二零零一年任應用科技研究院公司董事局成員。亦曾任保險業諮詢委員會委員,政府經濟諮詢委員會委員,廉正公署投訴委員會委員及香港公益金董事。 6. 曾任耶魯大學,牛津大學客座研究員。歷任美國加州大學客座教授。主要著作為Hyper-Growth in Asian Economies (Macmillan, 1979), Multinational Corporations, Technology and Employment (Macmillan, 1983), Transnational Corporations and Technology Transfer to Developing Countries (Routledge, 1994)及Asia's Borderless Economy (Allen and Unwin, 1997)。另有一百多篇論文在世界各地學術刊物發表。主要研究課題為亞太地區經濟成長,技術革新經濟理論,以及跨國公司與技術轉移的研究。 PROFESSOR EDWARD K.Y. CHEN Professor Chen, educated at Hong Kong University (B.A., M.Soc.Sc.) and Oxford University (D.Phil.), is currently President of Lingnan University in Hong Kong. From 1979 to August 1995, he was Director of the Centre of Asian Studies and in 1986 appointed Chair Professor at The University of Hong Kong. He is at present also an Honorary Professor and Distinguished Fellow of the Centre of Asian Studies at the University of Hong Kong, Honorary Professor of Shantou University, and Visiting Professor of Jinan University. He has held visiting appointments at Yale, Oxford, Stockholm Universities and the University of California (Davis Campus). He was selected as a Distinguished Fulbright Scholar in 1998 to conduct lecture tours in the United States. He has also extensive experience of the commercial sector. He is at present a director of the First Pacific Company, a director of Asia Satellite Telecommunications Holdings Ltd, a trustee of Eaton Vance Management Funds, and was a non-executive director of the Securities and Futures Commission, 1991-95, a board member of the Mass Transit Railway Corporation of Hong Kong, 1992-99, and a board member of the Applied Science and Technology Research Institute. Professor Chen has an eminent record of public service. He was a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong in 1991-92, and a member of the Executive Council of Hong Kong in 1992-97. He was a member of the Hong Kong SAR Basic Law Commentative Committee, 1980-1985. He served the Consumer Council for over 10 years and was its Chairman during the period 1991-1997. He was Chairman of the Veterinary Surgeons Board, 1997-2000, Co-ordinator of the PECC Trade Policy Forum, 1999-2001, a member of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) Operations Review Committee, 1999-2001. He is currently a member of the Services Promotion Strategic Group, the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, and the Banking Advisory Committee. He is also Chairman of the Hong Kong Society for the Aged and Vice-President of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. Professor Chen was elected as the founding Chairman of the Hong Kong Press Council in July 2000 and appointed a panel member of the Telecommunications (Competition Provisions) Appeal Board in 2001. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in June 1993 and made a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in January 1995. Professor Chen's research interests focus on economic development problems in general and with special reference to the Asian newly industrialised economies. He is particularly interested in the economics of technological change. Professor Chen is a pioneer in studies on newly industrialized economies, publishing his book entitled Hyper-Growth in Asian Economies (Macmillan Publishers) in 1979. Professor Chen has also been interested in studies on the changing pattern of foreign direct investment, and the role of multinational corporations in economic development and technology transfer. He published Multinational Corporations, Technology and Employment (Macmillan Publishers) in 1983, The New Multinationals (John Wiley) in 1983, Foreign Direct Investment in Asia (Asian Productivity Organization) in 1990, Transnational Corporations and Technology Transfer in Developing Countries (Routledge) in 1994, and Asia's Borderless Economy (Allen And Unwin) in 1997. Professor Chen has also engaged in studies on regional and sub-regional economic cooperation in Asia-Pacific. In total, Professor Chen has published over 100 articles in books and international academic journals on a wide range of subjects on development economies. |
